On October 4, 1947, \u201cLeave it to Beaver\u201d \npremiered on US television\u2026and space travel premiered in the USSR as the \nSoviets launched the first Sputnik. We take a look at the roots of \nSoviet space travel, and America\u2019s response to it, with Fordham History \nprofessor Asif Siddiqi.
