He explains his vision for an improved City.\n----\nSURGERY WAIT TIMES INCREASE AS CANADA TRIES TO REDUCE SURGERY BACKLOG\n\nLibby Znaimer is now joined by Tracy Johnson, Director of\xa0 Health System Analytics at CIHI (Canadian Institute for Health Information).\n\nThe surgery backlog is concerning, and the data put out by CIHI justifies that concern. According to their report, there were\xa0 937,000 less surgeries performed in Canada since March 2020. Cataract surgeries and joint replacements made up 24 per cent of that reduction. Only about 50 per cent of patients needing a knee replacement had their surgeries within 6 months versus 70 per cent before the pandemic.
