ADae / I learned this from an excellent CD by Martin Fox & Jeff Winegar - "The Way Is Was" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxWy62qiDmA Earliest recording I can find was played by Wallace Thompson in A (recorded by Bruce Greene in 1974. Another recording was made of WT by BG in 1988 that also includes some of the history of the tune (as he knew it): http://dla.acaweb.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/berea/id/1894/rec/3 Supposedly, this is a very old Scottish tune that WT's great -grandmother used to hum to him when he was a child ("...and she was old then") Was also played by Bruce Greene: https://www.slippery-hill.com/recording/moonlight-0 Another nice - more melodic version is by the Snow Hill Strings on "Babe In The Woods": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obGx7CIqJeQ
