Even before the pandemic, it could be difficult to keep up with the news cycle. Now it’s worse than ever and the stakes are even higher. As COVID vaccines become more widely available, we are inundated with headlines about their safety, their effectiveness, and how people feel about getting vaccinated. It can be a lot, and it can get overwhelming.

Do you ever wonder how to make sense of all the COVID-19 vaccine news?

We spoke to Tara Haelle (@tarahaelle), an independent science journalist who’s written about vaccines for a decade, ranging from a comprehensive FAQ on COVID-19 vaccines, to her young adult book Vaccination Investigation: The History and Science of Vaccines. Tara takes an empathetic approach to reporting on vaccines, and she’s got lots of great examples and analogies to help break down the complex and sometimes confusing news around COVID.

Check out Tara’s recent story on how she went with a self-described former anti-vaxxer to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
