Dr. Terrell Strayhorn is Professor of Urban Education at LeMoyne-Owen College, where he previously served as Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs and Chief Academic Officer. He also serves as research professor at Walden University and President of Do Good Work Consulting Group.



Author of 10 books and over 200 refereed journal articles, book chapters, and scientific abstracts, Strayhorn is an internationally-recognized expert on (in)equity in higher education, positive psychosocial behaviors, and college student success. He has lectured and keynoted at conferences and academic events around the world.



His current work uses quasi-experimental and survey methods to examine sense of belonging in education, social, and work settings. Strayhorn is a leading intellectual voice in education and contributor for Charlotte Observer, The Tennessean, Diverse Issues, and more.



He is Past-Chair of the Research Focus on Black Education (RFBE) within the American Educational Research Association, the world’s largest education society and serves on several editorial and non-profit boards. Dr. Strayhorn earned a PhD in Higher Education from Virginia Tech and both masters and bachelors degrees from the University of Virginia. He is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
