In this episode, I show you how to cook mashed potatoes and gravy Big Momma style, and also I sprinkle in the recipe for my candied yams.  There are some hidden dangers when eating mashed potatoes- hot!  There are hidden dangers when trying to peel potatoes and yams.   • 5 lb bag of Russet potatoes, well-scrubbed

  • 3 tablespoons kosher salt, divided

  • 2 sticks (8 ounces) unsalted butter

  • 2 cups Whole Milk, diluted Canned Milk or Half n Half

  • Ground Black Peppercorns or ground Pepper to taste

  • Additional Butter is optional  and totally up to yo taste.
