The 80's decade was a special time with all the new sounds emerging, house scene, jazz funk, new romantic, ska, hip-hop, electric funk and soul funk etc. One sound that took me back was funk & Soul. Loose Ends the biggest soul band at the time. Comprised of keyboardist Steve Nichol (a one-time model and Classically-trained musician, singer and bassist/guitarist Carl McIntosh and singer Jane Eugene.
Loose Ends unique mix of the famous 808 drums, electro synth grooves, jazz stylings stood out.
Groups started to appear with their unique sounds that were emerging in the underground nightclubs. You had to go to these selective nightclubs to hear the latest underground white label music and you had to ask the dj's the name of the tunes which to be fair they would have been annoyed with me lol.
One nightclub that I use to go regular was the Legends Night Club In Manchester. Loose Ends were making an appearance, they were doing a live PA and I was at the club, great night great memories.
So on that note, this mix is for the serious soul headz dedicated to British Soul Movement in the 80's and the early 90's and for sweet measure there is few tracks from the other side of the pond in the mix.
