Social Media Privacy Act; Is Facebook Playing Monopoly

b'A practice that was once employed by the Maryland Department of Corrections is now banned state-wide, as Marylands Governor signed legislation prohibiting employers from request[ing] or requir[ing] that at an employee or applicant disclose [any] means for accessing a personal account or service through an electronic communications device. Californias Assembly unanimously passed similar legislation this week and legislation is pending in Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota and in Congress.

We hear from Adam Keigwin, the Chief of Staff, Office of Senator Leland Yee from the California State Senate whose office opposes the issue.

The news that the FTC would conduct an antitrust review of the 1 billion dollar Facebook-Instagram acquisition puts Facebook in the spotlight as they join Microsoft, Google and Intel as tech giants who have been subject of intense antitrust scrutiny.
