Crest Podcast Ep21 - Chris Nelson & Demi Taylor

Published: Sept. 21, 2020, 2 a.m.

International purveyors of the finest surf stoke. After jacking in the day jobs to become nomadic writers, Chris Nelson and Demi Taylor's Footprint Guides to Surfing in Britain and Europe dropped at a time when publishers were eating up anything surf. Building on Demi's experiences from her days in the Roxy PR department, the couple then hit on a winning formula in running the inaugural London Surf Film Festival. In the decade since, Chris and Demi's events experience has seen them also develop the Approaching Lines festival in Newquay and a raft of specialty surf contests. In the process, it has been their job to hang out with some of the most interesting, and high-profile characters in the surf world. From putting on Steph Gilmore's premier in the big smoke, to helping upcoming and aspiring film directors break through, their events have often become crucial stops along any world surfer's European leg. In conversation with Tom, the pair recall some of the personalities and situations the festivals have thrown up, as well as the movies which have made it.
