Why Do Humans Swim?

Our relationship with water, and particularly with swimming, is a historied and interesting one. Swimming has mental, emotional, physical, and even spiritual effects on us.
 
Diving Sea Nomads
Guest: Melissa Ilardo PhD an Evolutionary Genomicistwho works in molecular medicine at the University of Utah and in integrative biology at UC Berkeley 
The Bajau have mind-blowing diving capabilities, and Dr. Ilardo’s study which examined spleen size and genetic comparisons shows that these abilities can be credited to natural selection for a few certain traits, which may also have medical significance for treating conditions such as hypoxia.
