One of the world\\u2019s largest fuel consumers, the Navy has committed to obtaining 50 percent of its total energy consumption from alternative sources by 2020. Mabus said he\'s \\u201cabsolutely convinced\\u201d that goal will be met. \\u201cNow is exactly the time that we have to do this,\\u201d Mabus said. \\u201cA tightening budget situation makes it even more urgent, even more critical.\\u201d He discussed concerns about sea level rise in the Pacific, melting ice in the Arctic and the Navy\\u2019s power to help move the market into a lower carbon future. "We don\'t pick and choose what we protect right now \\u2013 we protect the world," Mabus said.
