Utsuro Bune

Utsuro-bune\xa0(\u3046\u3064\u308d\u821f\xa0'hollow ship'), also\xa0Utsuro-fune,\xa0and\xa0Urobune, refers to an unknown object that allegedly washed ashore in 1803 in\xa0Hitachi province\xa0on the eastern coast of\xa0Japan.When defining Utsuro-bune, the bune part means "boat" while Utsuro means empty, or hollow. Accounts of the tale appear in three texts:\xa0Toen sh\u014dsetsu\xa0(1825),\xa0Hy\u014dry\u016b kish\u016b\xa0(1835) and\xa0Ume-no-chiri\xa0(1844).
