Utsuro-bune\\xa0(\\u3046\\u3064\\u308d\\u821f\\xa0\'hollow ship\'), also\\xa0Utsuro-fune,\\xa0and\\xa0Urobune, refers to an unknown object that allegedly washed ashore in 1803 in\\xa0Hitachi province\\xa0on the eastern coast of\\xa0Japan.When defining Utsuro-bune, the bune part means "boat" while Utsuro means empty, or hollow. Accounts of the tale appear in three texts:\\xa0Toen sh\\u014dsetsu\\xa0(1825),\\xa0Hy\\u014dry\\u016b kish\\u016b\\xa0(1835) and\\xa0Ume-no-chiri\\xa0(1844).
