Tulsa Race Riot

The\xa0Tulsa race riot, sometimes referred to as the\xa0Tulsa massacre,[2][3][4][5]\xa0Tulsa pogrom,[6][7][8]\xa0or\xa0Tulsa race riot of 1921, took place between May 31 and June 1, 1921, when a white mob attacked residents and businesses of the\xa0African-American\xa0community of\xa0Greenwood\xa0in\xa0Tulsa,\xa0Oklahoma.[1]\xa0This is considered one of the worst incidents of racial violence in the\xa0history of the United States.[9]\xa0The attack, carried out on the ground and by air, destroyed more than 35 blocks of the district, at the time the wealthiest black community in the U.S.
