The year\xa01816\xa0is known as the\xa0Year Without a Summer\xa0(also the\xa0Poverty Year\xa0and\xa0Eighteen Hundred and Froze To Death)[1]\xa0because of severe climate abnormalities that caused average global temperatures to decrease by 0.4\u20130.7\xa0\xb0C (0.72\u20131.3\xa0\xb0F).[2]\xa0Summer temperatures in Europe were the coldest on record between the years of 1766\u20132000.[3]\xa0This resulted in major food shortages across the\xa0Northern Hemisphere.[4]
