The Mountain Meadows Massacre
The\xa0Mountain Meadows massacre\xa0was a series of attacks on the\xa0Baker\u2013Fancher\xa0emigrant\xa0wagon train\xa0at\xa0Mountain Meadows\xa0in southern\xa0Utah. The attacks began on September 7 and culminated on September 11, 1857, resulting in the mass slaughter of most in the emigrant party by members of the\xa0Utah Territorial Militia\xa0from the\xa0Iron County\xa0district, together with some\xa0Southern Paiute\xa0Native Americans.
