In\xa0psychology, a\xa0false memory\xa0is a phenomenon where someone\xa0recalls\xa0something that did not happen or recalls it differently from the way it actually happened.\xa0Suggestibility, activation of associated information, the incorporation of misinformation, and\xa0source misattribution\xa0have been suggested to be several mechanisms underlying a variety of types of false memory phenomena.
