The Hubble Space Telescope
he\xa0Hubble Space Telescope\xa0(often referred to as\xa0HST\xa0or\xa0Hubble) is a\xa0space telescope\xa0that was launched into\xa0low Earth orbit\xa0in 1990 and remains in operation. It was not the\xa0first space telescope\xa0but it is one of the largest and most versatile, well known both as a vital research tool and as a public relations boon for astronomy. The Hubble telescope is named after astronomer\xa0Edwin Hubble\xa0and is one of NASA's\xa0Great Observatories, along with the\xa0Compton Gamma Ray Observatory, the\xa0Chandra X-ray Observatory, and the\xa0Spitzer Space Telescope.
