The\xa0Entertainment Software Rating Board\xa0(ESRB) is an American\xa0self-regulatory organization\xa0that assigns\xa0age and content ratings\xa0to consumer\xa0video games. The ESRB was established in 1994 by the\xa0Entertainment Software Association\xa0(formerly the Interactive Digital Software Association), in response to criticism of\xa0controversial video games\xa0with excessively violent or\xa0sexual content.
