The Black Sox Scandal
The\xa0Black Sox Scandal\xa0was a\xa0Major League Baseball\xa0game-fixing\xa0scandal in which eight members of the\xa0Chicago White Sox\xa0were accused of throwing the\xa01919 World Series\xa0against the\xa0Cincinnati Reds\xa0in exchange for money from a\xa0gambling\xa0syndicate led by\xa0Arnold Rothstein. Judge\xa0Kenesaw Mountain Landis\xa0was appointed as a response to the incident to be the first\xa0Commissioner of Baseball, and given absolute control over the sport to restore its integrity.
