The Bhopal Disaster [True Crime Special]
The\xa0Bhopal disaster, also referred to as the\xa0Bhopal gas tragedy, was a\xa0gas leak\xa0incident on the night of 2\u20133 December 1984 at the\xa0Union Carbide India Limited\xa0(UCIL)\xa0pesticide\xa0plant in\xa0Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India. It is considered to be\xa0the world's worst\xa0industrial disaster.[1][2]\xa0Over 500,000 people were exposed to\xa0methyl isocyanate (MIC)\xa0gas. The highly toxic substance made its way into and around the small towns located near the plant.[3]
