The Battle of Agincourt

The\xa0Battle of Agincourt\xa0(/\u02c8\xe6\u0292\u026ank\u028ar/; in French,\xa0Azincourt\xa0French pronunciation:\xa0\u200b[az\u025b\u0303ku\u0281]) was a major English victory in the\xa0Hundred Years' War.[a]\xa0The battle took place on Friday, 25 October 1415 (Saint Crispin's Day) in the\xa0County of Saint-Pol,\xa0Artois, some 40\xa0km south of\xa0Calais\xa0(now\xa0Azincourt\xa0in northern\xa0France).[5][b]Henry V's victory at Agincourt, against a numerically superior French army, crippled France and started a new period in the war during which Henry V married the French princess\xa0Catherine, and their son,\xa0Henry, was made heir to the throne of France as well as of England.
