Frederick Russell Burnham\xa0DSO\xa0(May 11, 1861 \u2013 September 1, 1947) was an American\xa0scout\xa0and world-traveling adventurer. He is known for his service to the\xa0British South Africa Company\xa0and to the\xa0British Army\xa0in\xa0colonial Africa, and for teaching\xa0woodcraft\xa0to\xa0Robert Baden-Powell\xa0in\xa0Rhodesia. He helped inspire the founding of the international\xa0Scouting Movement.
