Salem Witch Trials

The\xa0Salem witch trials\xa0were a series of hearings and prosecutions of people accused of\xa0witchcraft\xa0in\xa0colonial Massachusetts\xa0between February 1692 and May 1693. The trials resulted in the\xa0executionsof twenty people, fourteen of them women, and all but one by\xa0hanging. Five others (including two infant children) died in prison.
