Marie Sk\u0142odowska Curie\xa0(/\u02c8kj\u028ari,\xa0kj\u028a\u02c8ri\u02d0/;[2]\xa0French:\xa0[ky\u0281i];\xa0Polish:\xa0[k\u02b2i\u02c8ri]; 7 November 1867\xa0\u2013\xa04 July 1934; born\xa0Maria Salomea Sk\u0142odowska;\xa0[\u02c8marja sal\u0254\u02c8m\u025ba skw\u0254\u02c8d\u0254fska]) was a\xa0Polish and naturalized-French\xa0physicist\xa0and\xa0chemist\xa0who conducted pioneering research on\xa0radioactivity. She was the\xa0first woman to win a Nobel Prize, the first person and only woman to\xa0win twice, the only person to win a Nobel Prize in two different sciences, and was part of the Curie family legacy of\xa0five Nobel Prizes. She was also the first woman to become a professor at the\xa0University of Paris, and in 1995 became the first woman to be entombed on her own merits in the\xa0Panth\xe9on\xa0in Paris.
