James Randi

James Randi\xa0(born\xa0Randall James Hamilton Zwinge; August 7, 1928\xa0\u2013 October 20, 2020) was a Canadian-American\xa0stage magician[3][4][5]\xa0and\xa0scientific skeptic[6][7][8]\xa0who extensively challenged\xa0paranormal\xa0and\xa0pseudoscientific\xa0claims.[9]\xa0He was the co-founder of the\xa0Committee for Skeptical Inquiry\xa0(CSI), and founder of the\xa0James Randi Educational Foundation\xa0(JREF). Randi began his career as a magician under the stage name\xa0The Amazing Randi\xa0and later chose to devote most of his time to investigating paranormal,\xa0occult, and\xa0supernatural\xa0claims, which he collectively called "woo-woo".[10]\xa0Randi retired from practicing magic at age 60, and from his foundation at 87.
