Drug Smuggling
The\xa0illegal drug trade\xa0or\xa0drug smuggling is a global\xa0black market\xa0dedicated to the cultivation, manufacture, distribution and sale of\xa0prohibited drugs. Most jurisdictions\xa0prohibit\xa0trade, except under\xa0license, of many types of drugs through the use of\xa0drug prohibition laws. The think tank\xa0Global Financial Integrity's\xa0Transnational Crime and the Developing World\xa0report estimates the size of the global illicit drug market between US$426 and US$652\xa0billion in 2014 alone.[1]\xa0With a\xa0world GDP\xa0of US$78\xa0trillion in the same year, the illegal drug trade may be estimated as nearly 1% of total global trade. Consumption of illegal drugs is widespread globally and it remains very difficult for local authorities to thwart its popularity.
