Coney Island
Coney Island\xa0is a residential and commercial\xa0neighborhood\xa0and entertainment area in the southwestern part of the\xa0borough\xa0of\xa0Brooklyn\xa0in\xa0New York City. The neighborhood is bounded by\xa0Sea Gate\xa0to its west,\xa0Brighton Beach\xa0and\xa0Manhattan Beach\xa0to its east,\xa0Lower New York Bay\xa0to the south, and\xa0Gravesend\xa0to the north. Coney Island was formerly the westernmost of the\xa0Outer Barrier\xa0islands on the southern shore of\xa0Long Island, but in the early 20th century it became a\xa0peninsula, connected to the rest of Long Island by\xa0land fill.
