Carl Ethan Akeley\xa0(May 19, 1864 \u2013 November 17, 1926) was a pioneering American\xa0taxidermist, sculptor,\xa0biologist,\xa0conservationist, inventor, and nature photographer, noted for his contributions to American\xa0museums, most notably to the\xa0Milwaukee Public Museum,\xa0Field Museum of Natural History\xa0and the\xa0American Museum of Natural History. He is considered the father of modern\xa0taxidermy.[1]\xa0He was the founder of the\xa0AMNH Exhibitions Lab, the interdisciplinary department that fuses scientific research with immersive design.
