Cannabis
Cannabis\xa0(/\u02c8k\xe6n\u0259b\u026as/)[2]\xa0is a\xa0genus\xa0of\xa0flowering plants\xa0in the family\xa0Cannabaceae. The number of species within the genus is disputed. Three species may be recognized:\xa0Cannabis sativa,\xa0Cannabis indica, and\xa0Cannabis ruderalis;\xa0C. ruderalis\xa0may be included within\xa0C. sativa; all three may be treated as subspecies of a single species,\xa0C. sativa;[1][3][4][5]\xa0or\xa0C.\xa0sativa\xa0may be accepted as a single undivided species.[6]\xa0The genus is widely accepted as being\xa0indigenous\xa0to and originating from\xa0Central Asia, with some researchers also including upper\xa0South Asia\xa0in its origin.[7][8]
