Biosphere 2
Biosphere 2\xa0is an American\xa0Earth system science\xa0research facility located in\xa0Oracle, Arizona. It has been owned by the\xa0University of Arizona\xa0since 2011. Its mission is to serve as a center for research, outreach, teaching, and\xa0lifelong learning\xa0about Earth, its living systems, and its place in the universe. It is a 3.14-acre (1.27-hectare)[1]\xa0structure originally built to be an\xa0artificial, materially closed ecological system, or\xa0vivarium. It remains the largest closed system ever created.[2]
