Benjamin Jonson\\xa0(c.\\u200911 June 1572\\xa0\\u2013\\xa0c.\\u200916 August 1637)[2]\\xa0was an English playwright and poet. Jonson\'s artistry exerted a lasting influence upon English poetry and stage comedy. He popularised the\\xa0comedy of humours; he is best known for the\\xa0satirical\\xa0plays\\xa0Every Man in His Humour[3]\\xa0(1598),\\xa0Volpone, or The Fox\\xa0(c. 1606),\\xa0The Alchemist\\xa0(1610) and\\xa0Bartholomew Fair\\xa0(1614) and for his\\xa0lyric\\xa0and\\xa0epigrammatic\\xa0poetry. "He is generally regarded as the second most important English dramatist, after\\xa0William Shakespeare, during the reign of\\xa0James I."
