Alphonse Gabriel Capone\xa0(/k\u0259\u02c8po\u028an/;[1]\xa0January 17, 1899\xa0\u2013 January 25, 1947), sometimes known by the nicknames "Scarface" and "Snorky", was an American\xa0gangster\xa0and businessman who attained notoriety during the\xa0Prohibition era\xa0as the co-founder and boss of the\xa0Chicago Outfit\xa0from 1925 to 1931. His seven-year reign as a\xa0crime boss ended when he went to prison at the age of 33.
