Patrick Crusius, a 21-year-old from\xa0Allen, Texas, was arrested shortly after the shooting and charged with\xa0capital murder.[11]\xa0Police believe a\xa0manifesto\xa0with\xa0white nationalist\xa0and\xa0anti-immigrant\xa0themes, posted on the online message board\xa08chan\xa0shortly before the attack, was written by Crusius; it cites the year's earlier\xa0Christchurch mosque shootings\xa0and a right-wing conspiracy theory known as the\xa0Great Replacement\xa0as motivation for the attack.[4][12][13][14]\nIt is the deadliest\xa0mass shooting in the United States in 2019, the\xa0seventh deadliest since 1949, and the\xa0third deadliest in Texas.[15]
