It was directed by Herb Wallerstein from a teleplay written by Joseph Stefano (who wrote the screenplay for Alfred Hitchcock\'s 1960 thriller Psycho). The film originally premiered as the NBC Thursday Night Movie on NBC on April 28, 1977. This was the #1-rated television program in the USA the week of its release.
