ISAIAH 2

\n

The Day of the Lord

\n

6 You,\xa0Lord,\nhave abandoned your people,

\n

the descendants of Jacob.

\n

They are full of superstitions\nfrom the East;

\n

they practice divination like the\nPhilistines

\n

and embrace pagan customs.

\n

7 Their land is full of silver and gold;

\n

there is no end to their\ntreasures.

\n

Their land is full of horses;

\n

there is no end to their chariots.

\n

8 Their land is full of idols;

\n

they bow down to the work of their\nhands,

\n

to what their fingers have made.

\n

9 So people will be brought low

\n

and everyone humbled\u2014

\n

do not forgive them.

\n

20 In that day people will throw away

\n

to the moles and bats

\n

their idols of silver and idols of\ngold,

\n

which they made to worship.

\n

21 They will flee to caverns in the rocks

\n

and to the overhanging crags

\n

from the fearful presence of\nthe\xa0Lord

\n

and the splendor of his majesty,

\n

when he rises to shake the earth.

\n

22 Stop trusting in mere humans,

\n

who have but a breath in their\nnostrils.

\n

Why hold them in esteem?
