Interview w/ William "Butch" West (HC at Prince George's CC)

Coach West shares his journey from serving our country to becoming the Head Coach at Prince George's Community College. He got his start in coaching the Yokosuka Pro Traveling Team in Japan during his time serving in the military. When he got back to the United States he began coaching high school and grassroots basketball - including coaching on the boys and the girls side. Coach West was the Friendship Tech Prep High School boy's varsity head coach for the 2014-15 season, leading the team to a league-best 20-4 record. He was named the Coach of the Year by the league after guiding the squad to a division title as a first-year program. West also served as the boy's junior varsity head coach at Laurel Senior High School from 2011-14 that included leading the team to consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 2005-06. After Coach Brian Johnson was hired at Southern Vermont College, he was named Interim Head Coach for 2018-19 and won the NJCAA Region XX Championship in addition to being named HoopDirt Coach of the Week among other honors.
