I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings: Race and Poetic Identity

Published: Sept. 16, 2020, midnight

Where Jade, an English Major, reads classic and popular books so you don’t have to!
On this episode Jade gives you some interesting information about Maya Angelou, and then gives you a summary (+ reactions!) of I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings, our first nonfiction book, and the first of seven of Maya Angelou’s autobiographies.
This is actually a reread for Jade, because, embarrassingly, the first time she read it she didn’t realize it was nonfiction.
Shes does know this book makes her favorites list and she recommends everyone reads it at some point in their lives!
Stick around for an update on Jade’s bathroom, some fangirling, and some lapsing poetic about how amazing Maya Angelou is.
Sorry not sorry!
