The UA's Dr. Ty Ferre has lectured around the world about how to measure the quality and supply of groundwater and how development, wells and mining can have an impact on the levels of aquifers especially in desert areas like the U.S. Southwest. Ferre's work provides various stakeholders including government, businesses and individuals with scientific information on how changes to the environment can impact different groups which depend on the same groundwater. His research also provides information on water resources and flows to help government create plans to distribute water resources more fairly and effectively.
