Jared Churko is an assistant professor in Cellular and Molecular Medicine at the University of Arizona. He works with specialized cells that can be drawn from every person which can potentially repair any tissue damaged by disease. Since these cells harbor the same genetic background as the person they came from, they can be used to study patient-specific diseases, test drugs most likely to work on a given patient, and even replace diseased tissues.
