Published: June 22, 2020, 2 p.m.

Today I have the great opportunity to chat with the architect, educator, creator of “The Archiologist” and my very good friend Maria Flores (@mxgfh). She’s an excellent designer who’s ideals focus on creating bonding interactions that evoke emotions within the user. Her abilities extend over the architecture path and drive her passion for education towards future professionals in the design world. She’s also the creator of @thearchiologist, which has become an international platform where creatives can showcase their projects and share ideas/inspiration with more than 122k followers as of today. I have to say the conversation was a blast! We shared laughs, jokes, and I got to know more about how she pushes her creativity forward. The episode focuses on the interaction between passion and purpose as to why we choose the creative path. We talked about how different hobbies can add to the creativity of the designer and how we can evolve as professionals from them. I hope you guys enjoy it!

Maria Flores | BIO

.

Maria Flores is an architect and undergraduate professor at MDC. She’s originally from Venezuela but because of the political situation she and her family as many others had to find new horizons and this led her to the United States. She would later become enamored with architecture thanks to her parents' influence. Eventually, she enrolled in FIU’s Architecture program and continued her journey as a designer. Her love for journalism and the need to share stories led her to create The Archiologist, a platform for the architecture community. She obtained her Master’s of Architecture in 2018 and then furthered her education with a post-professional Master’s of Arts in Architecture to expand her research on urban design and it’s a psychological effect within communities. Nowadays, she is pushing forward and advancing her architectural professional path while teaching on the side. Her passion lies in the process of design and the journey of it to reach the final goal.
