How did Nelson Mandela reconcile his warring bodyguards?

After 18 months of recording the podcast in his spare room, Alan Kasujja is on the road with Africa Daily\u2026 and his first stop is Johannesburg. \n \nAlan wants to hear from people, out and about, and - as luck would have it \u2013 he\u2019s arrived just in time for a special day: Nelson Mandela\u2019s birthday, when the legacy of the former President and anti-apartheid hero is celebrated.\n \nAs South Africa\u2019s new President in 1994, Mandela faced the massive challenge of bringing black and white South Africans together.\n \nBut not many people know that he started this task with those closest to him: his bodyguards. \n \nAlan speaks to a black former freedom fighter and a white former apartheid police officer \u2013 who both became his bodyguards and who hated each other at first \u2013 but who eventually became close friends. \n \nPresenter: Alan Kasujja (@kasujja)\n \nGuests: Jason Tshabalala and Gert Barnard
