Episode 76 - Keep Your Vision High

Published: June 18, 2020, 2 p.m.

“Don't focus on the ruts like the ones on my little piece of road. And don't let the short term rob you of your vision. Well, it's a cute little saying, and people who are pessimists are great realists, as they prefer to call themselves would say yes, just a Pollyanna kind of thing. No, it isn't. It's super empowering. And it's super powerful. Because if you are committed to shooting for the moon.” - Kellan Fluckiger

What you are about to learn

Looking at the horizon is, what things am I moving forward to create the ultimate life versus what ruts do I need to avoid not to fall down. That's a better way to say it. So I've set some goals for this year, and this is Yeah, we're, coming out of this Coronavirus thing and different provinces in Canada and states in the US and countries around the world are opening up their economies in their behavior. And activities in different ways. Some predict doom and gloom and spikes and resurgence, and particularly in the United States, there seems to be no end of political tint, complete, die, not tint to all that, and everybody's spinning it for their benefit. But setting that aside, focusing on the problem is only is like looking at just the rut and avoiding the rut.

Now, I'm not saying it's never okay to look at a severe problem. But if that's how we live, then we miss the journey entirely.

So I guess what I'm trying to get you to see is as you focus on creating your ultimate life, whatever that looks like, based on purpose, prosperity, enjoy using your divine gifts, serving others, whatever that looks like for you. Look at the long term. Don't focus on the short term setbacks.

I've wandered through all those valleys. And you have to in your way, whatever your version of those are, I know you have. And I'm not saying mine because I think mine is any different, better, worse, or anything else than anybody else's. What I'm saying is there is another side, there is a tomorrow there was a sunrise. And if you keep your sights high, keep your vision high, and you keep looking at that horizon. And every single day that you do that, you will be creating your path forward. You'll also avoid the ruts, and you'll be one step closer to creating your ultimate life.

Key Takeaways

“And so I felt and have experienced that when I keep my vision down. I have sad days, I have hard days, I have difficulty, and sometimes I avoid the ruts, and sometimes I don't. But the way that life went, as I avoided the rut, is completely different. When I look up, I keep my sights up my vision focused on the longer term, my trust, and my faith in the future and the possibility and opportunity to stay that high. I have better days, and I avoid the ruts, and I don't fall and, you know, crash and burn.”

“Whatever your moonshot is, whatever your big goal is, whatever your million dollar goal objectives, whatever that big thing is you want to accomplish. If you stay focused on that, and your long term view, you keep your sights up, your opinion focused on the long term. And despite short term ruts, and losing your footing here are falling there. Then several things happen. One, you live happier, too. You see connections and relationships that you would otherwise have missed. And that's so important. So important.”
