What you are about to learn

How long does it take enthusiasm to evaporate? How long does it take before we stop being excited about something, and a half-life is a measurement of half of something. And so it just has become a staple. They use that in medication too. And sometimes, you know, you're still really enthusiastic about a thing. But often, it's completely changed.  When you make a declaration of change, there are often peripheral things that need to change, and you might need to change priorities, you might need to change how you spend your time. And you might need to do all kinds of adjustments in both your time and your money allocation if you want to do a new thing.

Now, here's where the half-life of enthusiasm comes in. Suppose our enthusiasm isn't grounded in those principles and things that we hold dear. Then, the half-life of enthusiasm is too, extremely short. Like,  If you're excited about something, you buy it. And then you look at it, and then you know, and we'll do it later. Our knowledge I'll have time, and then you know a little bit more time goes by, and then it becomes one of those either never finished or half-finished projects that sit on the shelf. And then Worse yet, it turns to be a burden, and it becomes a negative thing.

You know, to create your life of purpose, prosperity, and joy. There are things that you need to do differently unless you might already have your ultimate experience right now. I have finally come to a place where I have that, but it's been hard fought and hard. It didn't come accidentally, and it certainly didn't come easily.

The enthusiasm of the moment. So as you think about the goals that you want for your ultimate life of purpose, prosperity, and joy, think about what has to change. What do you need to do differently so that you are the person who has that ultimate life of purpose, prosperity, and joy that you love every single minute of every single day of what are the actions, attitudes, behaviors, and thoughts that you need to change?

What is it that genuinely makes you feel influential, trustworthy, honest, all the way to your soul, right down to the core of your heart. Now, if you tie the behaviors, you want to change the new habits you want to create or the old ones you want to get rid of. If you connect them to that core principle of whom you decide you are, you can make the kind of commitment that will live way longer than the enthusiasm.

Key Takeaways

"If you're creating an ultimate life, then unless you already have that, there are things about yourself about how you earn money, about how you use your time, and about how you treat others and how you interact with the world, there may be all kinds of things that you want to change before you feel like you're either making great progress toward, or you have achieved the ultimate life that you have. And here's where this Half-Life comes in. So if you read a book, go to a course, hire a coach, or do whatever you say, I'm going to fill in the blank, make all these changes so I can move toward my ultimate life."

"You have to do something different than you've been doing. Here's where the half-life of enthusiasm comes in. Are you willing to make the changes? Are you ready to act and do the required things differently to create that change in your life? If we rely on enthusiasm, the answer almost always will be no because enthusiasm has a short half-life to accomplish the goals."
