Kartisia "KC" Esco is the Head Athletic Trainer and Health\nScience Instructor at Warren Easton Charter High School.\nAs a Health Science Instructor, she is responsible for\neducating the students in the medical field through\ncourses including Introduction of Health Occupations,\nMedical Terminology, Emergency Medical Responder, and\nSports Medicine. In her role, she helps the students by\nbeing a liaison, connecting the students with mentors and\nopportunities that would better prepare the students for\nthe work force. In addition to being a teacher within the\ndepartment, she is also responsible for the development of\nthe program, as she conducted the research and help build\nthe medical track. She also assisted Youth Force NOLA\nand their development of the medical track of the New\nOrleans Career Center, which provides opportunities to\nstudents throughout the city.\nAs an athletic trainer, she is responsible for the prevention\nand care of injuries with the athletes of Easton, including\n10 sports and 4 ancillary groups (marching units).\nShe is also the sponsor of the Athletic Training Student\nAides (ATSA). As the sponsor, she has grown the\norganization from 9 students to 28 and have developed\npolicies, procedures, and training to help better prepare the\nstudents for successful work in the realm of sport\nmedicine.\nKC desires to see the expansion of the medical field,\nespecially Athletic Training. For this, her ultimate goal is to\nprovide access to similar experience she received from her\nalma mater by starting accredited athletic training\nprograms at universities that services minorities.
