Between 1986 and 1991, the bodies of 10 women were found raped and strangled to death in the South Korean city of Hwaseong. It was the largest criminal case in South Korean history, often compared to the Zodiac murders, with over 21,000 suspects investigated. A movie based on the crimes called Memories of Murder was released in 2003, directed by Oscar winner Bong Joon-ho of Parasite. The murders went unsolved for over 30 years until 2019 when there was a break in the case.
