172: Overcoming PTSD and TBI to Develop a Tour Guide Platform Alton Franco On today’s episode, Joe Crane talks with Alton Franco about overcoming PTSD and TBI. Alton has only been in the Navy for some time when he became part of a suicide crash. Because of that, he lost his career and for the rest of his life suffered from PTSD and a traumatic brain injury. Now, he is going strong with his recent venture called Tag Your Tour Guide. Tune in! "When human beings experience trauma or severe life stressors, it’s not uncommon for their lives to unravel." -Lena Axelsson A Suicide Crash Alton entered the Navy at the age of 19. He found it simple enough to keep up with the demands and procedures. His new life started when he got stationed to the Gulf. He and his 3 shipmates became part of a suicide crash. Their taxi driver intentionally crashed the vehicle. The next thing he saw was the driver's face plastered against the glass. Suffering from PTSD Alton spent some time to heal. In the process, however, he found himself suicidal and very violent. He suffered from a lot of pain. For that, he was flown to Italy for physical and mental therapy. During that time, PTSD was just new. They did not know exactly how to deal with it. Life in Transition Later on, Alton's military career ended. Although he was still used to being in the military, his condition hindered him from pursuing it. He became pretty much confused, and just felt like being tossed around.
