b'J. Michael Haynie Ph. D., IVMF Founder and Executive Director. holds a doctorate in Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy. Since 2015, he has served as the vice chairman of the newly created MyVA Advisory Committee, a Presidential Task Force chartered to set the course for long-term excellence and reform at the Department of Veteran Affairs. Mike also serves as an appointed member of the U.S. Secretary of Labor\\u2019s Advisory Committee on Veterans\\u2019 Employment, Training, and Employer Outreach and is also the Vice Chancellor for Strategic Initiatives and Innovation at Syracuse University.\\n\\nJ. Michael Haynie- Transitioning From Air Force to Syracuse University\\n\\nJ. Michael Haynie is an Air Force veteran who acquisition and contracting guy, spent time working as an aide to one of the 4-Star Generals and then was assigned to teach at the Air Force Academy which was a turning point for his career. \\xa0Mike enjoyed teaching and loved higher education. His transition was three days and landed where he belonged.\\n\\n\\u201cUltimately it was that assignment in a way that motivated me to transition out of the Air Force to Syracuse University.\\u201d \\u2013 J. Michael Haynie, Ph.D.\\nHigher Education Impacting Veterans\\nMike has a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship and Business Strategy and discusses the navigation of resources and the challenges of finding the ones that are right for them. \\xa0Mike launched a small program in the business school at Syracuse called the Entrepreneurship Bootcamp for Veterans with Disabilities. They ended building other programs for caregivers and women veterans to engage in the issues and concerns for our veterans and families. \\xa0In 2011 they launched the Institute for Veterans and Military Families.\\n\\n\\u201cI\\u2019d come across some academic literature that highlighted that people with disabilities in this country turn to business ownership at a rate of seven times higher than others.\\u201d \\u2013 J. Michael Haynie,\\xa0Ph.D.\\nCivilian Credentials and Certification Program\\nThe program Onward Opportunity is really growing. \\xa0Research showed that civilian credentials and certifications (PMP, HR Certifications) were needed so they created a program in partnership with Starbucks to provide skills training in 32 different areas. All of which lead to a different credential, license or certification. \\xa0They are currently running that program on 18 military installations and online and are all free.\\n\\n\\u201cWe realized through our research that one of the ways to support post service employment for service members \\xa0is to get civilian credentials and certifications in their hands.\\u201d \\u2013 J.
