Keith shares the importance of veteran business owned certification. Whether you are just starting a business or already have some years of experience, The NVBDC offers solutions that you can benefit from. Tune in! "Veterans have knowledge and skills that very few people are ever going to have." - Keith King From the Military to Entrepreneurship Keith served as a gunner in the combat support unit in Vietnam. When he transitioned out, he learned how detrimental that experience was for his career. So, he preferred to be silent about it as much as possible. By the early 70s, he landed a job in the broadcast industry. He received a number of promotions, and got to work in the largest radio station in the country. As the years rolled on, he was able to establish his own business. Starting the NVBDC Keith also had the experience of working in sales. It taught him some of the skills he needed as an entrepreneur. His first company focused on doing consulting in broadcasting. Keith also launched a few other businesses in the long run. Now, with the desire to help other veterans, he actively serves in the National Veteran Business Development Council. A Champion in Business Keith started The NVBDC for the purpose of providing a credible and reliable certifying authority. They serve to ensure valid documentation of a business' Veteran ownership and control. Through the Supplier Diversity programs, many business opportunities exist for the Veteran Owned Businesses. In March 2012, Keith became the first veteran to be awarded as the State of Michigan, Mid-West Regional and National Veteran Small Business Champion.
