It was Dave and his brother growing up. Their Dad died when they were young, their Mom was their hard-working role model and when he was old enough, Dave decided the military would give him some guidance and structure and he got into West Point. He became a Ranger and was a platoon leader in Iraq. In his career, he learned how to come back from failure and how much he didn't know, both tremendous lessons for being an entrepreneur. After his service, he became a power networker, seeking out people he felt would be great advisors to run his ideas past. He became mesmerized by the data that could be harvested by social media, and he and his wife started their first business. Check out his book, "The Power in a Link". His knowledge and experience he has taken to Rally Point to help those in the military connect and get things done together.\n\nVeteran Founder Podcast with your hosts Josh Carter and Carmen Nazario\n\nWe record the Felony Inc Podcast inside NedSpace in the Bigfoot Podcast Studio in beautiful downtown Portland.\n\nAudio engineer, mixer and podcast editor is Allon Beausoleil\n\nShow logo was designed by Carolyn Main\n\nWebsite was designed by Cameron Grimes\n\nProduction assistant is Chelsea Lancaster\n\nTheme music: Artist: Tipsy Track: Kadonka Album: Buzzz Courtesy of Ipecac Records\n\n10% of gross revenue at Startup Radio Network goes to support women entrepreneurs in developing countries thru kiva.org/lender/markgrimes\n\nListen to the Veteran Founder Podcast live on-air every Friday at 1:00pm pacific time on Startup Radio Network at startupradionetwork.com
