009: Pioneering the Craft Beer Movement in Chicago with Gabriel Magliaro

Published: Oct. 31, 2017, 7:24 a.m.

Gabriel is the founder of Half Acre which is one of, if not the top craft brewery in Chicago. Today the craft beer scene is exploding, but that was not the case when Gabriel started Half Acre in Chicago a decade ago. Gabriel did not come from a business background. He was blowing glass professionally while living in Colorado when he fell in love with craft beer. He eventually moved to Chicago and founded Half Acre.

On today’s episode, Gabriel and I discuss:

  • The reactions of others around Gabriel when starting a craft beer business when it wasn’t popular in Chicago yet
  • The challenges they faced in the growth stage
  • Advice for someone looking to make their first action step
  • And much more…
